What is the Feed?

Your Feed is a new section inside the Locate a Locum app (to access your feed, please update to the latest version of the app). It shows you professionally curated content relevant to your role as a locum, based on your qualifications, your location, and how you interact with in the Feed.

You'll find it in the bottom navigation bar. Tap Feed to open it.

The Feed is not a social media timeline. There are no user posts, no comment sections, and no crowdsourced opinions. Every piece of content has been sourced, reviewed, and published by the Locate a Locum team in partnership with credible professional sources.

You can trust what you read.

My Diary: Where to find it

As part of this update, My Diary has moved. It is no longer a standalone tab in the navigation. You'll now find it inside My Shifts.

How to find it: Open My Shifts → tap the Calendar tab

Nothing has changed about your diary. Same data, same functionality, just a new location.

If you're still having trouble finding it, contact our support team.

How to find your Feed

Make sure you're on the latest version of the app first. If you haven't updated, visit the App Store or Google Play Store.

  1. Open the Locate a Locum app

  2. Tap Feed in the bottom navigation bar

  3. Your Feed loads automatically based on your profile

What you'll see in your Feed

Your Feed contains professionally curated content designed to support your professional life as a locum. Content is organised around three areas:

Essential — content you need to do your job safely and legally. Compliance guidance, clinical updates, locum checklists, payment and SOP information.

Upskill — content to help you earn more and become more employable. Professional development, accreditation guides, and career progression content.

Intelligence — content to keep you informed about your industry. NHS updates, market news, OTC launches, and pharmacy sector developments.

Types of articles in your Feed

Your Feed contains professionally curated content, not user-generated posts or crowdsourced opinions. Every article is sourced from reputable organisations, subject matter experts, and established voices in healthcare. The Feed is designed to support your professional development, not just fill a screen.

In your newsfeed, you will find different types of content:

How-to Guides

Practical, step-by-step guides on topics relevant to working as a locum, including getting paid, understanding your invoicing, using the app, managing tax as a self-employed healthcare professional, and more.

Local Updates

Region-specific content relevant to where you work, including local demand trends, travel disruptions affecting shift availability, and location-based professional news.

Professional Development

Accreditation explainers, training opportunities, and guides to expanding your scope of practice. Content is matched to your existing accreditations and surfaced when it is relevant to what you already do.

Career Content

Articles exploring the permanent career landscape, including guides to moving between locum and permanent roles, CV tips, interview preparation, and perspectives from pharmacists at different career stages.

Community & Culture

Spotlights on healthcare professionals, stories from the profession, events of interest, and content that connects you to the wider community.

How personalisation works

Your Feed is personalised using multiple signals:

  1. Your accreditations

  2. Your location

  3. Your job role

  4. Your interactions with the Feed (what you read, bookmark, and engage with)

A baseline of general professional content is always included, so your Feed is never empty, even if your profile is incomplete.

To get the most relevant Feed:

Go to More → My Profile → Accreditations & Skills

Go to More → My Profile → Personal Details (update work location & job role)

Your Feed updates automatically when you save changes.

How to Bookmark content

You can save any content to read and come back to later.

  1. Find a piece of content in your Feed

  2. Tap the bookmark icon on the content card or in the content itself

  3. The icon fills to confirm it's saved

To access saved pieces of content, tap the bookmark icon in the top right of your Feed screen. Remove a bookmark at any time by tapping the icon again.

How to search your Feed

  1. Open your Feed

  2. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen

  3. Type any word, topic, or phrase — e.g. "Flu Vaccination", "Pharmacy First"

  4. Results update as you type. Search works across titles, summaries, and tags

  5. Tap any content to read it, or bookmark it for later

FAQ’s

1) Where did My Diary go?

My Diary now lives inside My Shifts. Tap My Shifts in the navigation bar, then tap the Calendar tab at the top of the screen. All your data is exactly as you left it.

2) Why did My Diary move?

We moved My Diary to make room for the Feed in the main navigation. Because shifts and your diary are closely related, combining them into one place makes the app cleaner without removing anything.

3) Does the Feed replace shift search?

No. Shift search is completely unchanged. The Feed is an additional section, shifts are still where you've always found them.

4) Why is my Feed showing content that doesn't feel relevant?

Your Feed personalises based on your profile. If it doesn't feel relevant yet, the most likely reason is that your profile isn’t up to date. Go to More → My Profile and check location, job role and accreditations. Your Feed will update automatically once you save changes.

5) Can I turn the Feed off?

The Feed is a core part of the app and can't be turned off. You can improve what you see by keeping your profile up to date and engaging with content that's useful to you.

6) Who do I contact if I have a problem with the Feed?

Contact our support team via the app or through the Help Centre.
