Your cancellation history: how it works

J
Written by James Crilly

What is it? A record of the shifts you've cancelled with a company over the last six months, and how much notice you gave each time. Each company has its own separate record of your cancellations of their shifts.

What's recorded? Only how much notice you gave. Each cancellation is grouped by the gap between cancelling and the shift start:

Notice given

Shown as

48 hours or less, or you didn't attend

< 48 hours

Over 48 hours to 14 days

48 hrs – 14 days

More than 14 days

14+ days

Cancelled by the company

Company Cancelled

Cancellations the company makes are listed separately under Company cancellations and never factor into your record.

What isn't recorded? The shifts you work aren't part of it, and neither is anything else about you.

Is there a rating? No. There are no levels or scores.

There's one flag. If you've cancelled six or more shifts with the same company at under 48 hours' notice within the last six months, that company sees a line saying "6+ late cancellations in 6 months". Below six cancellations then no line appears at all.

FAQs

Q) Does this stop me getting booked? Locate a Locum doesn't block, hide or push down anything because of your record. Shifts don't disappear from your search and you aren't ranked lower.

Companies can see it, in the same way they can see your compliance and your distance from the shift, so it's one of the things they may weigh up. That's why it never appears on its own — your shifts worked for that company, the reasons you chose and

the notes you wrote all sit beside it.

Q) What does a company see? How many shifts you've worked for them, how many at that location, and your cancellations with them. On each cancellation: the date, the notice you gave, the reason you selected, the note you wrote, and when you cancelled. Plus the flag, if you have six or more late cancellations with them.

Q) Can other companies see it? No. Each company only ever sees cancellations of its own shifts. There's no platform-wide record.

Q) Does the flag ever clear? Yes, on its own. Each cancellation counts for six months. Once you're below six late cancellations with that company in the window, the flag comes off automatically.

Q) Why do I have the flag already? The record looks back over the last six months, so it includes cancellations from before this launched. It's retrospective, and it clears as those cancellations pass the six-month mark.

Q) I've cancelled late a few times and nothing shows. Is that right? Yes. The flag only appears at six or more with the same company. Your cancellations are still visible in your record, with the notice and reason on each.

Q) What happens if I cancel within 48 hours? You can't take a different shift on that same date, with any company. It lifts once the date has passed. You can still go back to the shift you cancelled, at the rate you'd already agreed, though you can't negotiate it upwards.

Q) What if I cancel a block of shifts? Each shift in the block is recorded separately on its own notice, so the days nearest the cancellation count as late and the ones further out may not.

Q) Why can't I cancel my fixed block? Fixed block bookings are a commitment to the whole block, so changes go through the branch. Their number is shown on the shift page. Fixed blocks only.

Q) A cancellation is recorded wrongly. What do I do? Speak to the company first, since they record it. If that doesn't resolve it, contact support and we'll look into it with them.

Q) Can I see how often a company cancels on me? Yes. My Shifts > Cancelled, filtered to Company Cancelled. You'll see the notice they gave and the reason.
