How to block a locum (prevent future viewing/applications)

Use this guide to block a locum so they cannot view or apply for any future shifts with your company.

Before you start

  • Access is permissions-based. If you can’t edit locum settings, ask a Company Admin.

Steps

  1. Open People
    Go to People from the main navigation.

2. Show locums
Set User Type to Locum.

3. Find the locum
Search by name or email, or use + Add Filter to narrow results. Click the locum’s name to open their profile.


4. Open Settings
In the profile, select the Settings tab.

5. Block the locum

In Company User Status, choose:

  • Permanently deleted and Blocked — permanently blocks the user and removes them from your licence.

  • Suspended — temporarily blocks the user (they can’t view/apply) pending review.


6. Save
Click Save Changes (green). The locum is now blocked and cannot view or apply for future shifts.

Tips

  • Add an internal note on the locum’s profile explaining why they were blocked (helps future admins).

  • If the issue is location-specific, consider alternative actions (e.g., disabling Instant Book at certain stores) before blocking platform-wide.

Troubleshooting

  • Can’t see Company User Status: You may lack permissions or be on the wrong user type—confirm User Type = Locum.
