How to cancel a live or booked shift (employer)

Use this guide to cancel shifts that are live (not yet booked) or booked/worked (assigned to a locum). You can cancel one or multiple shifts in a single action.

Cancel a live or booked shift (employer)

Use this guide to cancel shifts that are live (not yet booked) or booked/worked (assigned to a locum). You can cancel one or multiple shifts in a single action.

Steps to cancel a live shift (no locum booked):

  1. Open Shifts

    • Go to Shifts from the main navigation.

    • In the left panel under All Shifts, select Shifts.

2. Filter the list (optional)
Narrow results with Date range, Job type, Region, or Add filter.

3. Select shift(s)

  • Tick the checkbox beside each shift you want to cancel.

  • To select all displayed shifts, tick the checkbox beside Date.

4. Cancel

  • Click Options → Cancel.

  • Choose a Cancellation Reason.

  • (Optional) Add Additional Information.

  • Click Confirm to cancel.


Steps to cancel a booked shift (assigned to a locum)

  1. Navigate to Booked/Worked

    • Go to Shifts → Booked/Worked.

2. Filter the list (optional)
Use Date range, Job type, Location, Region, or Add filter to find the shift.

3. Select shift(s)
Tick the checkbox beside each shift you want to cancel, then click Options → Cancel.

4. Choose who is cancelling

  • Select Company or Locum.

5. If Company is cancelling:

  • Select a Cancellation Reason.

  • Enter a Message to Locum (required).

  • Click Confirm.

6. If Locum is cancelling:

  • Select a Cancellation Reason.

  • Enter a Message to Locum (required).

  • (Optional) Tick Republish shift to re-advertise with the same details.

  • Click Confirm.


Tips

  • Use filters first to quickly isolate the correct shifts before cancelling.

  • For multiple cancellations, multi-select to save time.

  • If a locum cancels, consider Republish shift to notify other locums with the same details previously booked.

Troubleshooting

  • ‘Options’ button is greyed out: Make sure at least one shift is selected.

  • Can’t see “Cancel”: Check you’re on the correct tab (Shifts for live, Booked/Worked for booked) and you have permission to cancel.

  • Confirm button disabled: Select a Cancellation Reason and, for booked shifts, add a Message to Locum.
