How to Clock in & Out for a Break

Use this guide to start and end a break after you’ve already clocked in for your shift.

Before you start

  • You must already be clocked in.

  • Have your Employee Number (employees) or LAL login (locums) ready.

Open the clock-in terminal

  • On the terminal, choose Employee or Locum.

If you choose Employee

  • Enter your Employee Number → Next Step.

  • Don’t know it? Click Forgot your employee number? and sign in with your Email and Password.

If you choose Locum

  • Enter your Email and Password → Next Step.

Start your break

  1. On the main screen, click Start Break (green).

  2. You’ll see confirmation. (You can also view your holiday balance and add notes on this screen.)

End your break

  1. Return to the terminal and select Employee or Locum again.

  2. Authenticate as above.

  3. Click End Break (green).

4. You’ll see a confirmation message that you’re back on shift.

Tips

  • If your workplace uses break policies, follow the scheduled break length shown by your manager.

  • Add a short note if the break start/end varies for a valid reason (e.g., “covering till 13:05”).

Troubleshooting

  • Can’t see Start Break/End Break: Make sure you’re already clocked in (Start) or on a break (End).

  • Employee Number not recognised: Use Forgot your employee number? to log in with email and password.

  • Login failed: Check your email/password or reset your password from the login screen.
